About Tom
Tom Clarke was the founder and artistic director of the charity – Bath Recitals Artists Trust.
Before he died in 2023, Tom was the charity’s president following on from Sir Peter Pears, Sir Charles Groves and Sir Charles Mackerras.
Tom was a colourful and prominent figure in the cultural life of Bath for over 40 years.
Since the 1980s he staged over 600 ‘shows’ (as Tom always liked to call them). This had a hugely positive impact on the cultural scene in the city as well as providing a valuable platform for young professional musicians.
Tom studied at the Royal Academy of Music and during his life he composed numerous pieces which were performed both in Bath and elsewhere.
